Paul Concannon, Regional Manager for MITIE Property Services said that the contract with Milton Keynes Council covers approximately 12,000 homes, from terraced properties on large estates to multi-occupancy low and high rise developments. The work is expected to include more than 40,000 repairs and the reinstatement of 1,200 empty properties per year. As a result, a substantial literage of Crown Trade Vinyl Silk, Matt emulsion and Gloss will be supplied for the contract, together with various Crown Trade preparatory products, problem solving coatings and Timonox flame retardant products.
“This is an extremely important five year contract for MITIE, with an option to extend the agreement for a further five years,” said Paul Concannon. “We obviously want to give our client the very best level of service we possibly can, and believe that with a project of this scale and complexity the best way to ensure client satisfaction is to work in partnership with sole suppliers for key materials.
“Our most critical requirement from a coatings supplier is product quality. The last thing we want is for our decorators to spend unnecessary time applying coat after coat of paint in order to achieve a good standard of finish, or be called back to a property because a tenant is unhappy with work carried out in their homes. Having worked with Akzo Nobel for many, many years we know we can put our trust in Crown Trade’s quality, performance and reliability.
“Product performance isn’t everything though”, added Paul.” The second critical factor in our deliberations over which manufacturer to select was service. What clinched this particular deal was the degree of flexibility shown by the Akzo Nobel sales team to accommodate our challenging supply requirements on this project and their commitment to fulfil every aspect of our brief.”
