A winning premier trophy awards with the Painting and Decorating Association

We were proud to support the Painting and Decorating Association’s 2018 Premier Trophy Awards as the main sponsor in their landmark 30th year.

Held in the impressive surroundings of Plaisterers’ Hall in London on Thursday 5th July, the award ceremony got underway with a speech from our commercial director, Philip Cefai, where he discussed how continual product innovation is driving the latest industry developments. He also addressed the current challenges facing the industry including the skills shortage and the need to support the next generation of painters and decorators – something that we’re passionate about as a company.

The annual Premier Trophy Awards competition is run by the Painting and Decorating Association and celebrates the fantastic achievements of people and businesses within the decorating trade through its recognition of painting and decorating excellence. With a number of categories – including decorative, highly decorative, small contractor, industrial, commercial, residential and new build – the awards are open to decorators working on a huge variety of projects across the sector.

The first award to be announced on the night was the coveted PDA Apprentice/Trainee award winner and runners up, both of whom received a goody bag of tools and equipment from our own Crown Decorating Centre network as a way to set them up in their future careers. Following two regional heats held earlier this year, the judges selected Abigail Johnson from Leeds College of Building as their ultimate winner, while Megan Talbot from Accrington and Rossendale College, and Eleanor Cleave of Bournemouth and Poole College took second and third place respectively.

The awards were a huge success and we feel privileged to have played our part in this prestigious event, especially in such a milestone year.
