Crown Trade High Performance Cladding system on the ball at the John Smith’s Stadium
Crown Trade’s Protective Coatings Cladding System has scored great reviews from decorators across the UK – and now it has provided the winning formula on refurbishment works carried out recently at The John Smith’s Stadium, home to both Huddersfield Giants Rugby League Club and Huddersfield Town Football Club.
The system, comprising of Crown Trade Fast Drying Cladding Finish and Crown Trade High Build Rust Inhibiting Metal Primer, has been used to breathe new life into the surfaces at the Stadium’s away stand.
A total of 100 litres of Crown Trade Fast Dry Cladding Finish and 35 litres of Rust Inhibiting Metal Primer were used on the project.
Crown Trade Fast Drying Cladding Finish has been specifically developed to adhere to pre-coated and weathered metal cladding and other external features that have become dull and discoloured over time.
The water-based formulation also offers a quick drying time, and incorporates anti-mould properties to maintain an attractive aesthetic finish for the longer term.
Crown Trade Fast Drying Cladding Finish is available in a wide range of colours, and the Stadium were able to select a bespoke green shade in line with Heineken’s John Smith’s branding guidelines.
Where the existing coating has failed, Crown Trade Fast Drying Cladding Finish can be used in conjunction with Crown Trade Protective Coatings High Build Rust Inhibiting Metal Primer to protect the bare, exposed metal from corrosion.
Both products were used at The John Smith’s Stadium and Crown Trade High Build Rust Inhibiting Metal Primer provides the perfect foundation for Crown Trade Fast Drying Cladding Finish as a complete system.
The John Smith’s Stadium Operations Manager, Phil Armitage, said: “The products are brilliant and we are delighted with the colour match.”
Debbie Orr, Crown Trade Senior Brand Manager, said: “We have been receiving great reports on our Crown Trade Fast Drying Cladding Finish and this is an excellent project, which really demonstrates the transformational effect the system delivers.
“For decorators, it opens up new opportunities to refurbish buildings in a wide-range of environments including retail sites, sports halls and warehouses, and once completed, surface protection and good looks are assured for up to eight years.
“Crown Trade High Build Rust Inhibiting Metal Primer provides the perfect foundation for Crown Trade Fast Drying Cladding Finish as a complete system.
“It cures to a low sheen finish, promoting excellent adhesion of the topcoat and is a very distinctive salmon pink colour, which makes it easy to see where the primer has been applied and to ensure that no areas have been missed.
“Decorators also like the fact the system can be applied under a straightforward process, using conventional brushes, rollers or spray equipment, with no special application techniques or tools required.”
Lancashire based company HD Signs carried out the painting work. Contract Manager Dave Holt, said: “The application of the Crown Trade system was carried out very successfully.
“We are really happy with the end result and think the colour has matched up really well. Everyone is delighted with the finish.”
