Immerse yourself in colour
Every year, our panel of colour consultants and experts compile several new colour trends to help decorators, DIYers and homeowners alike take a fresh approach to choosing colour schemes.
In our latest series of exclusive blogs, we’ll be taking a closer look at the three core colour trends for 2019, starting with the oceanic inspired ‘Immersed’.
Immersed – the story of the sea
This attractive colour palette can, like the ocean itself, be both calming or dramatic and features a spectrum of colours ranging from the darkest navy and deep midnight blue to soft pastels and shimmering aqua marine shades.
Offering fantastic design flexibility, Immersed lends itself perfectly to a wide variety of interior settings, from bedrooms to living rooms or any space that would benefit from being transformed into a soothing and tranquil sanctuary. Just as a walk along the beach can provide a welcome escape from our busy lifestyles, this colour trend helps create an ‘Immersive’ space to retreat to.
Getting on board
Each of the three new colour trends that Crown has identified for 2019 are designed to be easily adaptable, appealing to a variety of personal tastes and lending themselves for use in rooms both large and small. For a subtle approach, stronger hues can be used on small areas such as feature walls or to make a real impact, a combination of colours could be used on broad wall areas. Usually the bigger the space, the more colours can be used and with Immersed, there is bound to be a shade for everyone.
As Immersed takes its inspiration from water, fluid designs and the technique of creating ‘ombre’ walls where several different colours fade into one another can be particularly effective.
With the lightest shade at the top, blending down to the darkest colour at the bottom to anchor the design is a great way to create a striking interior feature. It’s also not as tricky as you might think to create and to give you a helping hand, whether you’re brushing up on your painting skills or trying something new, our new video is available to view now.
