Introducing new 100 per cent recycled plastic containers to our range
Look out for our new 2.5 litre and 5 litre plastic paint containers – made from 100 per cent recycled plastic.
We’re the first paint manufacturer in the UK to develop paint containers manufactured using 100 per cent post-consumer waste (PCW) plastic – plastic that would otherwise have ended up in landfill.
How did we do it?
We teamed up with packaging solutions expert Emballator to develop the innovative new manufacturing process and break the 25 per cent recycled plastic level in the containers. Polypropylene plastics such as shampoo bottles, yoghurt pots, plastic water bottles and even elements from household appliances are first separated from unusable plastic waste before being turned into individual pellets. These are then dyed and moulded to create our 2.5 litre and 5 litre paint containers, with the dark grey shade making them instantly recognisable on the shelf.
The new paint containers are also fully recyclable once empty and clean. With such sustainability credentials, the new paint cans are the ideal choice for today’s environmentally conscious consumers.
When will they be available?
The paint containers will soon be rolled out across the entire Crown Paints range, starting with our Retail products this month and followed by our core Crown Trade products. Look out for the distinctive dark grey plastic containers on the shelves of your local Crown Trade stockist or Crown Decorating Centre soon.
